The main characters are Rolf Carle, Azucena, and the author. The author did not decribe any main characters' feature at all.
2. Describe the main character's situation. Where does he/she live? Does he/she live alone with others? What does the main character do for a living, or is he/she dependent on others for support?
The story begins with the chaotic situation in rescue of victims, after catastrophic volcanic eruption. Rolf Carle is a television reporter. The narrator (the author), who is never named, watches pictures of the devastation on the television news, described by her lover, Rolf Carlé, the first television reporter on the scene. The narrator herself did not mention about her career in the story, but I believed that she's a writer since she is the author of this story. Azucena is one of thousands of villagers who lived on the slopes of a mountain in Latin America.
3.What are some of the chief characteristics(personalitly traits) of the character? How are these characteristics revealed in the story? How does the main character interact with other characters? Note the degree of complexity of his/her behavior, thought, and feelings; their appearances, their habits, mannerisms, speech, attitudes and values. Rolf 's attitude towards his childhood life is very sad and disconted.
4. What sort of conflict is the charcter facing? How is this conflict revealed? Is it resolved? If so, how?
The conflict in the story was that she young innocent girl is trapped after the terrible mudslides cause by a active volcano which destroy thousandth of lives in this small village. The attempt to save Azucena's life was unsuccessful.
5. Is any character a developing character? If so, is this change a large or a small one? Is it
a plausible change for him? Is he sufficiently motivated? Is the change given sufficient time?
Azucena had touched a part of Rolf that he himself has no access to, a part he had never shared with his own wife. It was Azucena who had him thinking of all the bad tragedy that had happen to him when he was around her age. He never wanted to face it, but Azucena thought him a lesson. And so he faced it.
