And of Clay Are We Created: Characters Questionaires
1. Who are the main characters in the story? What does the main character look like?
The main characters are Rolf Carle, Azucena, and the author. The author did not decribe any main characters' feature at all.
2. Describe the main character's situation. Where does he/she live? Does he/she live alone with others? What does the main character do for a living, or is he/she dependent on others for support?
The story begins with the chaotic situation in rescue of victims, after catastrophic volcanic eruption. Rolf Carle is a television reporter. The narrator (the author), who is never named, watches pictures of the devastation on the television news, described by her lover, Rolf Carlé, the first television reporter on the scene. The narrator herself did not mention about her career in the story, but I believed that she's a writer since she is the author of this story. Azucena is one of thousands of villagers who lived on the slopes of a mountain in Latin America.
3.What are some of the chief characteristics(personalitly traits) of the character? How are these characteristics revealed in the story? How does the main character interact with other characters? Note the degree of complexity of his/her behavior, thought, and feelings; their appearances, their habits, mannerisms, speech, attitudes and values. What is the main character's attitude towards his/her life? Is he/she happy or sad, content or discontented? Why?
Rolf 's attitude towards his childhood life is very sad and disconted.
4. What sort of conflict is the charcter facing? How is this conflict revealed? Is it resolved? If so, how?
The conflict in the story was that she young innocent girl is trapped after the terrible mudslides cause by a active volcano which destroy thousandth of lives in this small village. The attempt to save Azucena's life was unsuccessful.
5. Is any character a developing character? If so, is this change a large or a small one? Is it
a plausible change for him? Is he sufficiently motivated? Is the change given sufficient time?
Azucena had touched a part of Rolf that he himself has no access to, a part he had never shared with his own wife. It was Azucena who had him thinking of all the bad tragedy that had happen to him when he was around her age. He never wanted to face it, but Azucena thought him a lesson. And so he faced it.

And of Clay Are We Created: Tone Questionaires
1. What is the author's attitude towards actions or events?
The author's attitude towards actions and events both are extremely depressed and stressed out. Because of the limited time in saving Azucena's life, the author had desperately searching for just a pump.
2. Is the story humorous or tragic or grightening? Does the author want you to laugh or cry, to feel happy or sad, to experience anger or fear?
The story is truly tragic. The way the author had expressed her feelings made tears brim my eyes. I was afraid if Azucane was to die at the end of the story or not. At the same time I felt angry and could not understand why it takes so much time to deliver just a pump.
3.What is the author's attitude toward characters or the narrator? Does the author like or dislike, trust or misrust the character or the narrator?
Ther author's attitude towards the characters is how she understand Rolf 's pain to watch Azucena dying and Azucena's feeling of being trapped in the mudpit for days.

And of Clay Are We Created: Imagery Questionaires
1. What scences, moments, descriptive passages, phrases, or words stand out in your reading of the story?
The last day right before she passed away was when she said "That in all 13 years of her life no boy had ever loved her and it was pity to leave the world without knowing love.." And Then Rolf told her one thing that made her happy. He said and assured her " He loved her more than he could ever love anyone, more than he love his mother, more than he love his sister, more than all the women who had slept in his arms". With that the young innocent girl closed her eyes forever. This scene is really touching. I took pity on the girl and understand how hard her life is.
2. Did a particular image make you feel happy, or frightened, or disturbed, or angry? Why?
I felt sad and yet I also felt happy that at least Azuencea had passed away peacefully
3. Which of your five senses did this image appeal to? What do you associate witht this image, and why? What do you think the author wants you to feel about a certain image?
I envisioned the picture of Rolf sitting in front of Azuencea, looking into her eyes and tell her those precious words.
4. How do you think that your reactions to the imagery in the story contribute to the overall meaning of the story?
The story is very impressive, it was the best story I've read in Grade 10 literature textbook!

And of Clay Are We Created: Point of View Questionaires
1. What point of view does the story use? Is the story told froma first-person perspective, in which the narrator is one of the characters in the story, and refers to himsef as "I"? Or is the story told from a third-person perspective, in which the narrator is not one of the characters in the story or may not participate in the events of the story?
The story uses second-person perspective to introduce the story and it uses first-person perspective in the middle of the story.
2. What are the advantages of the chosen point of view? Does it furnish any clues as to the purpose of the story?
By using first-person perspective, the author could express her feelings and freely share her opinion toward the situation. She could understand how Rolf felt.
3. Is the narrator reliable or unreliable? Does he/she have a limited knowledge or understanding of characters and events in the story? Does the narrator know almost everything about one character or every character, including inner thoughts?
The narrator is reliable. She can tell by watching rolf's eyes and hearing his voice that his objectivity is slipping, and that he is responding emotionally to Azucena.
4. Does the author use point of view primarily to reveal or conceal? Does he ever unfairly withhold important information known to the focal character?
The author reveal the truth and the feelings of her lover Rolf. No, she doesn't unfairly withhold important information know to the focal character.
